YONKERS - Two teenagers are under arrest today, accused of shooting a toddler in Yonkers.
Police say a fight between several groups of young people led to the bloodshed that left a 3-year-old girl with a bullet wound.
Authorities say a street fight began at around 4 p.m. yesterday at Palisade and Locust Hill avenues. A group of youths were allegedly involved in an altercation before a gun went off.
The bullet left superficial wounds on a 3-year-old girl who was crossing the street with her father at the time of the incident.
She was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx and is expected to be OK.
Store owners in the area say the street fight forced them to close their doors in an effort to protect customers.
A 14-year-old suspect was booked for second-degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment. A 16-year-old suspect is under arrest for weapon possesion charges.
