Provisions & Ingredients is the very accurate name of a new venue in Peconic. The little store stocks a mix of artisanal goods from both near (sausage from Deep Roots Farm in Orient, pickles from Brooklyn Brine, dried beans from Upstate) and far (mostly pasta, tomatoes and specialty items from Italy).
A refrigerated case displays cheeses and cured meats that can be purchased by the pound, or enjoyed in the store at a convivial bar in the form of tapas and pressed sandwiches. Selections include Gorgonzola and fig jam on a local Blue Duck baguette ($4), Proscuitto di Parma and grissini breadsticks ($5) or the Hot Hot Hot sandwich (spicy coppa, Hudson Red cheese and garlic-scape pesto, $9).
Wash this all down with a glass of wine from the adjacent establishment, The Winemaker Studio, a retailer and tasting room for hard-to-find North Fork wines. Both stores are owned by Anthony and Sarah Evans Nappa.
