Girls soccer first-time goal scorers

It's that time of year where we begin to assemble our annual list of Long Island’s first-time goal scorers in girls varsity soccer.

The list will continue to grow as we update it throughout the season. Coaches, if we are missing one of your goal scorers, e-mail us at Michael.Gavin@newsday.com and Stephen.Haynes@newsday.com so we can include them. Without further ado, here are the girls who found the back of the net for the first of what will hopefully be many goals in their careers…

Amber Birchwell, Floyd freshman: Scored three goals in a 3-2 win over Westhampton on Sept. 12

Caroline Culkin, South Side senior: Scored in a 6-0 win over Wantagh on Sept. 20

Emily Melendez, Deer Park junior: Scored in a 3-1 win over Bellport on Sept. 12

Julia Ottinger, South Side senior: Scored in a 6-0 win over Wantagh on Sept. 20

Carly Sauve, Centereach: Scored in a 4-2 win over Port Jefferson on Sept. 10

Brooke Skahan, Islip junior: Scored in a 2-0 Islip win over Harborfields on Sept. 18

Julia Smith, Smithtown East freshman: Scored two goals in a 7-0 win over Riverhead on Sept. 17

Maggie Thibault, Baldwin eighth grader: Scored in a 5-0 win over Hempstead on Sept. 16

Micki Wain, Wheatley freshman: Scored in a 2-1 win over Valley Stream South on  Sept 17.
