St. Anthony's tops Long Island Lutheran
It was a battle for bragging rights to determine who is the No. 1 team on Long Island. Most people in basketball circles believe St. Anthony's and Long Island Lutheran are the top two teams and they played in the consolation game of the 14th annual Slam Dunk Tournament at the Westchester County Center in White Plains Sunday afternoon.
For the second consecutive season, St. Anthony's won, 46-36. Chastity Taylor struggled in the first half shooting 2 of 12 but with both teams struggling offensively, she shined in the fourth quarter. She scored 14 of her 21 points in the fourth quarter and added a career-high 19 rebounds.
Senior Rebecca Musgrove scored her 1,000th career point late in the game for the Friars. She had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Boogie Brozoski scored 14 to lead LuHi.
St. Anthony's (4-3) shot 14-for-61 (23 percent) and had 18 turnovers. Long Island Lutheran shot 12-for-47 (25.5 percent) and turned the ball over 24 times. St. Anthony's defeated Long Island Lutheran (6-2) in overtime in the Bronx last season.
