Some shakeup in our rankings this week after Ward Melville belted Smithtown West on Monday, 13-4. West Islip isn’t done yet, either, as its 7-6 comeback victory over previously unbeaten Northport demonstrated. Sayville also suffered its first loss last week and has a big game at Comswewogue on Thursday night.

Suffolk Players of the Week:

Dan Rooney, Smithtown East. The freshman scored five goals and added an assist in a 13-6 victory over defending state champion West Islip in League I. It was the Bulls' first-ever victory over the Lions.

Ryan Keenan, Smithtown West. The junior attack scored five goals with four assists in a 14-7 victory over Bay Shore and came back with two goals and two assists in a League II victory over Half Hollow Hills East.

Hunter Hayes, Shoreham-Wading River. He took a feed from Tim Rotanz and scored on a sidearmed shot with 1:01 left in overtime to give the Wildcats a gritty victory over Comsewogue in a League II thriller.
