Police on Friday chased down three men who tied up a couple in a Nanuet apartment and stole $3,000 from the home, authorities said.
Zachary Johnson, 31, of the Bronx; Ravindra George, 19, of the Bronx; and Jose Hernandez, 24, of Mount Vernon, each were charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree robbery, two counts of first-degree burglary and one count each of second-degree weapons possession and third-degree possession of stolen property, Clarkstown police Sgt. Jo Anne Fratianni said Monday.
All the charges are felonies.
Police allege that about 2:35 a.m. Friday, a man was walking to his home at 605 Maplewood Gardens when the three men approached him, one of them showing him a gun and forcing him into his apartment. Once inside, the three men tied his wrists behind his back and did the same with a woman who was in the apartment, police said.
The suspects took $3,000 in cash and ran, police said. A witness dialed 911, and arriving officers were able to arrest all three suspects after a brief foot chase, police said.
The victims were not hurt. Police recovered a 9 mm handgun and a .40-caliber handgun, one 14-inch machete blade and the $3,000, police said.
On Monday morning, the three remained in Rockland County Jail in lieu of the $150,000 bail set at their arraignment Friday night by Clarkstown Town Justice Howard Gerber.
No information on their legal representation was available Monday, a court official said.
