YONKERS - A massive fire broke out Thursday at a dollar store in Yonkers.
The fire started at around 4 p.m. in the Dollar K store on South Broadway. Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano says firefighters were able to contain the fire before it could spread.
It took 18 fire companies and more than 60 firefighters to put out the flames. After several hours, the fire was contained to the dollar store.
Residents in nearby homes surrounding the store were evacuated. As of now, firefighters say there seems to be no structural damage to the evacuated homes. No injuries have been reported.
