A slice of life at my dad's pizzeria

Since I was about 9, I've been helping to put together the pizza boxes at my dad's pizzerias. He owns two: Our Little Italy in West Islip and Brunello's Pizza and Pasta in West Babylon. I mostly make pizza boxes at Our Little Italy, because it is close to where I live.

I started making pizza boxes because I would watch my sister waitress at the pizzeria, and I wanted to help, too. I asked my dad how I could help, and he taught me how to make a pizza box. I loved it and caught on very quickly. When I first started, it took me about two minutes to make a box. Now it only takes me about a minute -- if I don't mess up on a step. I look forward to making more pizza boxes and maybe even becoming a waitress like my sister when I grow up.

One of the specialties at my dad's pizzerias is the Nutella pizza pie. As a special treat, he made pies for my entire class to enjoy. I was so happy when all my classmates said how much they loved the pie. A Nutella pie has a regular pizza dough base and it is covered in Nutella, strawberries, bananas, cannoli cream and powdered sugar. For additional awesome taste, it is also drizzled with flavored syrup for decoration.
