NEW ROCHELLE - The New Rochelle Housing Authority unveiled 131 new affordable housing units today.
In the first of three phases to bring affordable housing to the city, $40 million was spent toward building 80 townhouses plus an apartment complex. The units are fully occupied by tenants who used to live in public housing.
At the end of this year, the city will begin demolishing the public housing units and begin building phases two and three.
There will be 230 units total when the project is complete in 2015.
