Annabi's lawyer speaks out against guilty verdict
NEW YORK - The defense team in the federal corruption trial of former Yonkers City Councilwoman Sandy Annabi is speaking out against the verdict against his client.
The jury of nine women and three men found Annabi and co-defendant Zehy Jereis guilty on all counts. Annabi was found guilty on 10 counts, and Jereis on six counts ranging from conspiracy and bribery to extortion and tax evasion.
Annabi's lawyer William Aronwald says they will appeal the verdict and say the evidence was insufficient to convict his client.
