Babylon Supervisor pleased with LIPA chief resignation

WOODBURY - Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer says that he is pleased about the announcement of the resignation of LIPA Chief Operating Officer Michael Hervey.

Schafer says that he hopes that Hervey will use his remaining weeks at the utility explaining to the customers why a "nonsensical" inspection requirement was instituted.

The supervisor says he is also happy to see Gov. Andrew Cuomo create a commission with subpoena power to investigate the utilities in the state, including LIPA, about their preparation ahead of, and performance after, Hurricane Sandy.
