Bag found in Yonkers may hold human remains, cops say

NEWS 12 WESTCHESTER: What's believed to be body parts stuffed in a bag were found near Rossmore Avenue. (Sept. 5, 2012)

A bag emitting a "foul odor" discovered in a wooded area of Yonkers may contain human remains, police said Wednesday.

Authorities received a report of the "suspicious bag" about 5 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Rossmore and Illinois avenues.

An initial investigation revealed that the remains are "possibly human," police said.

The Westchester County medical examiner's office will conduct an autopsy on the remains Wednesday, police said.
