Best real estate agents on Long Island of 2013

Each year, real estate analytics and consulting firm Real Trends partners with The Wall Street Journal to produce a ranking of the top 250 real estate professionals in the United States by sales volume, or the total value of the transactions they brokered. Here are the Long Island-based brokers who made the cut.

10. Lynda Packard, Douglas Elliman Real Estate

Elliman's top-ranking Long Island broker is based out of the firm's Southampton office and completed $83.4 million worth of sales in 2012, including this 6,000-square-foot home set on 3.33 acres at 9 Holly Lane in Water Mill for $6.5 million.

9. Martha Gundersen, Brown Harris Stevens Brown Harris

9. Martha Gundersen, Brown Harris Stevens

Brown Harris Stevens' East Hampton-based agent closed $92.3 million in real estate in 2012, good for 75th most in the nation. In early 2013, she sold this four-bedroom home, situated on 1 acre at 10 Lily Pond Lane in East Hampton, for $6.8 million.

8. Terry Cohen, Saunders & Associates The Bridgehampton

8. Terry Cohen, Saunders & Associates

The Bridgehampton agent frequently shares listings with Diane Saatchi, another Saunders agent that cracked Long Island's top 10, and was credited with $97.4 million in closed deals in 2012. This month, Cohen was listing the six-acre Bridgehampton estate pictured with a $14.95 million asking price.

7. Diane Saatchi, Saunders & Associates Saatchi fell

7. Diane Saatchi, Saunders & Associates

Saatchi fell just short of completing nine-figures worth of sales in 2012, registering $99.3 million in real estate transactions out of Saunders & Associates' Bridgehampton office. This month, she was listing the four-acre Sagaponack estate pictured for $23 million.

6. Gary DePersia, The Corcoran Group The longtime

6. Gary DePersia, The Corcoran Group

The longtime East Hampton-based agent transacted $101.7 million worth of East End real estate in 2012, good for 63rd most in the country. This summer, he sold this newly built, eight-bedroom, 8,700-square-foot home at 109 Town Line Rd. in Wainscott for $14.2 million, according to Zillow.com.

5. Harald Grant, Sotheby's International Realty The Southampton-based

5. Harald Grant, Sotheby's International Realty

The Southampton-based agent pulled in $145.5 million worth of deals in 2012, and has been on a similar pace this year. He successfully sold 44 Brennans Moor in Water Mill, a five-bedroom, 4,200-square-foot spread listed for $4.25 million this fall.

4. Beate Moore, Sotheby's International Realty Moore sold

4. Beate Moore, Sotheby's International Realty

Moore sold $191.4 million worth of real estate out of Sotheby's Bridgehampton office last year. In the summer of 2013 she brokered an $8.09 million deal for the five-bedroom, 6,800-square-foot home pictured at 18 Wainscott Road in Wainscott.

3. Michael Schultz, The Corcoran Group Ranked 19th

3. Michael Schultz, The Corcoran Group

Ranked 19th overall, Schultz was credited with brokering more than $199.5 million worth of property out of Corcoran's East Hampton office. In mid-2013 he sold this eight-bedroom, 6,500-square-foot home at 283 Gin Lane in Southampton for $10.2 million.

2. Tim Davis, The Corcoran Group Based out

2. Tim Davis, The Corcoran Group

Based out of Southampton, Davis brokered $229 million worth of Long Island real estate in 2012, including the 17,000-square-foot spread pictured at 171 Great Plains Rd. in Southampton that garnered $24 million. Nationally, he's ranked 16 among all real estate professionals.

1. Susan Breitenbach, The Corcoran Group Real Trends

1. Susan Breitenbach, The Corcoran Group

Real Trends and The Wall Street Journal credited Breitenbach, who is based out of Corcoran's Bridgehampton office, with brokering $248.6 million in sales in 2012. She sold this 10,150-square-foot home, which has seven bedrooms, at 96 Meadows Lane in Bridgehampton for $21.6 million at the end of 2011.
