If you're used to blah dining in hotel lobbies, the new Basil's Bistro at the Hilton on Rte. 110 won't do anything to change your view.

The corporate-style menu is all over the place, from Mediterranean salad to Long Island duck. A tired-tasting turkey burger ($14) at a recent lunch was served with a cranberry aioli that looked like gloppy Dannon yogurt. Lukewarm fries were soaked with oil.

Two bright spots: The salad had beautiful yellow and red tomatoes worthy of the season. And the service was fine.

Overnight guests have the convenience of a full breakfast menu that covers such items as eggs Benedict ($13), blueberry stuffed pancakes ($10) and a breakfast lox wrap ($14).

The restaurant is part of a redo of the Hilton lobby that includes a handsome 45-foot-long bar —  a promising spot for after-office-hours drinks for those working along this busy corridor.  Even so, there's nothing right now at Basil's that would make this lobby dining space a detour-worthy destination.
