Cafe Testarossa in Syosset is offering three midweek specials in August.
There's a fixed-price wine dinner on Tuesdays, "Martini Nights" on Wednedays and a $31, Thursday-night lobster special.
Chef William Sansone stuffs the 2-pounder with escarole, corn risotto, garlic, lemon and white wine.

George Martin's Grillfire in Syosset turns on the burners Monday night.
The latest Grillfire succeeds Mim's at the Berry Hill Road location. Its American menu, with steakhouse mainstays, is similar but not exactly like those at the Grillfire branches in Merrick and Rockville Centre.

Nissos is the 13th restaurant in 24 years at this address near the Syosset railroad station. It's definitely among the best-looking, too.
Awash in Aegean blue and white, with sail-like cloth billowing above and a display of fresh fish on ice near the kitchen, the whole place already merits praise for design and decoration.

CoolFish remains situated in a windowless space in an anonymous building that opens onto a parking lot. Steven Del Lima is the latest chef to let the light in.
The Syosset restaurant, which keeps its stylized, contemporary interior, is under new management. Chef-owner Tom Schaudel sold it last year to the Singh Hospitality Group.

Expect a new entry in Long Island's sushi wars.
Kashi, which has highly rated restaurants in Huntington and Rockville Centre, is expected to open a third branch in Syosset. Construction is under way at the site on the north side of Jericho Turnpike, situated opposite Chris & Tony's restaurant, which is located at 352 Jericho Tpke.

Christiano’s in Syosset, the pasta-parm house long debated to have been the inspiration for Billy Joel’s “Scenes From an Italian Restaurant,” finally closed on Monday. The Singh Hospitality Group announced its plans to shutter and reinvent the "bottle of red, bottle of white" restaurant last year, then gave it a reprieve in August.

Syosset has bid addio to Bronx Pizza Company, situated on a stretch of industrial area along Robbins Lane, just off the Long Island Expressway.
The pizzeria-pub opened in 2012 and was owned by the Zilla family, which has culinary roots in the Bronx’s Arthur Avenue. In addition to pizza, it also featured house-baked bread, hand-cut fries and, initially, house-smoked barbecue.

Energy Kitchen, a Syosset eatery on Jericho Turnpike, has run out of steam. The place was geared to low-cal healthy eating and opened in 2012 as the first Long Island branch of a New York City chain.
Now, it seems, the entire operation has gone under. A message on the Energy Kitchen website states, “We have made the difficult decision to close all of our NYC and Long Island locations.”
