Life on Long Island
Awaiting ‘The Emporium’
There had already been some buzz and social media chatter that a new nightlife venue is to soon arrive in Patchogue – something called “The Emporium.” Some in the conversation claimed it was to be a club and live music venue, others that it was going to be a hip-styled bowling alley.
A Facebook page appeared on June 30 for an “EmporiumLi Eventcenter,” but it offered no description. However, yesterday afternoon a mass text arrived to many a phone, exclaiming:
“EMPORIUM Nightclub, Beer Garden, Restaurant, Bowling…HIRING all Positions 2nite [Aug. 1] 6-10pm THURS, FRI. 9 Railroad ave, [sic] Patchogue, NY theemporiumny.com don’t miss out”
Suddenly, those looking to know more received an address, features, a possible job opportunity and a website. (The burgeoning company’s online page offers a grand opening date of “August 2012,” and also mentions a “concert hall” will be in place.) A trip over to 9 Railroad Avenue revealed an unlit marquee, and the doors were open – but not for business, as those inside were cleaning and moving things around. From street level there seemed to be more interior work to be done, but if the promise of the aforementioned text holds true, Long Islanders may soon have a multifaceted nightspot that can entertain in several ways.
Further details are still to come, but according to the website, those interested in employment as barbacks, hostesses, serves, bartenders and to cover bottle service can come down with no appointment necessary – just bring a photo and arrive at 9 Railroad on Thursday, Aug. 2 and Friday, Aug. 3 between 7 p.m.-10 p.m., and on Saturday, Aug. 4 between 1 p.m.-7 p.m. For more information, the email is email@example.com.
