It’s quite a strange fact: while so many Manhattanites and Brooklyn hipsters have made the Hamptons their summer home – the booming indie music scene of NYC has not really been included, with South Fork spots either using mostly local musicians or DJs for entertaining purposes.

However, of all the many clubs, lounges, eateries and other venues on the East End that feature live music, Surf Lodge in Montauk (183 Edgemere St., 631-238-5216, thesurflodge.com) has done a solid job of showcasing buzz-worthy, critically-lauded small-label musicians and bands over its half-decade in existence. Indie acts such as The Kills, The Drums, Dirty Projectors and MNDR have all taken part in the Fort Pond-side hostel’s 2012 summer concert series – and come Saturday, Aug. 25, the next performance takes place with Nite Jewel.

Also known as Ramona Gonzalez, Nite Jewel is a Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter whose efforts recall the club-worthy side of alternative music from the 1980s and '90s. Working over dry but danceable beats, she possesses a voice that lies somewhere between the sweet sadness of Sarah McLachlan, the fed-up fragility of Tori Amos and the funky fearlessness of Annie Lennox. Also able to handle some trip hop-styled ballads, Gonzalez has received strong reviews from numerous music bloggers and writers, while also garnering a great deal of public attendance at many of her shows.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. with no cover. Expect a larger-than-normal crowd (which is already usually large), and keep in mind: If you haven’t been out to Surf Lodge since last season, parking is no longer being permitted all along the sides of Edgemere Street (so make plans to possibly park elsewhere and take a cab to the venue).
