A contemporary production of “Sleeping Beauty Dreams” by Mexico’s Marionetas de la Esquina comes to the Long Island Children’s Museum’s theater in February. In this version, the princess is an overprotected daughter who wants to break away from the castle not only to find true love, but to find her true self. Here are the show details, along with the other shows on the museum theater’s calendar this month:

Sleeping Beauty Dreams

1 and 3 p.m. Feb. 23 and 24; 10 a.m. and noon Feb. 26, 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Feb. 27 and 28

For ages 3 and older; $5 with museum admission, $10 for show only

 

Story Songs with Debbie and Friends

1 and 3 p.m. Feb. 9

The family concert includes pop, country, rock and reggae for sing-and-dance-along fun. For ages 3 and older, $3 with museum admission.

 

David Pleasant presents SHOUT, JUBA and JIVE

1 and 3 p.m. Feb. 16 and 17

This hands-on music and movement class highlights the percussion style of Gullah/Geechee, which originated on the Sea Islands off the coast of Georgia and South Carolina. Culminates in a percussion orchestra performed by the kids. For ages 3 and older, $3 with museum admission.
