In accordance with what seems to be the law of Long Island — that is, an area cannot have too many Asian Fusion or pan-Asian restaurants — Ruby Asian Fusion & Sushi Bar opened in Woodbury. It actually replaces another such restaurant, Asian Bistro Next Door, in Woodbury Common.

If its name sounds somewhat familiar, that’s because it’s under the same ownership as Ruby Sushi in nearby Plainview. Unlike that place, though, it serves a number of Asian cuisines — Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian and Malaysian — in addition to sushi and Japanese fare.

Chef Steven Ng, who hails from Malaysia, offers roti, a flaky pancake with curry sauce ($6) as one of his appetizer specialties. Also on the menu: Shanghai short ribs ($9), papaya salad ($7), wok mango chicken ($15), Vietnamese pork chop ($18), pad thai ($12) and entree-sized roasted duck egg noodle soup ($13).   From the sushi roster: a toro scallion roll ($8) chirashi ($19) and the intriguingly named Three Stooges roll, done with spicy tuna, salmon and yellowtail ($12).

Ruby Asian Fusion & Sushi Bar is at 8285 Jericho Tpke., Woodbury, 516-224-4660
