Get ready for March wind, March madness and the march of the latest trend. Here are three restaurants to brace you on a cool night, make an easy transition toward spring, and keep the latest buzz comfortably in check.

Barney's in Locust Valley has been a local landmark for decades. It's a cozy, New England-style spot. Try the crabcake with lemon-caper emulsion, seared duck breast and confit-style leg, herb-roasted rack of lamb, beef short ribs with vegetable ragout.

Dodici in Rockville Centre warms you up with white-bean soup, gnocchi Bolognese, spinach-and-ricotta ravioli in marinara sauce, and pancetta-wrapped filet mignon. Go lighter with pine nut-crusted St. Peter's fish with vegetable risotto.

The Bellport in Bellport has an all-seasons style but is especially welcome about now. Enjoy the warm spinach salad, cider-brined and grilled pork chop, roasted beet and goat cheese salad, and the vegetable antipasto.

Barney's, 315 Buckram Rd., Locust Valley; 516-671-6300.

Dodici, 12 N. Park Ave., Rockville Centre; 516-764-3000.

The Bellport, 159 S. Country Rd., Bellport; 631-286-7550.
