  • Wingin' it in Selden: Buffalo wings, sports art

The first Long Island link in a Colorado-based franchise chain is serving up Buffalo wings (and burgers, and sandwiches and more) in Selden. What sets the new Wingman apart, though, isn’t so much its wings (which are actually pretty good) but its striking sports-themed murals, courtesy of Dix Hills artist Uldis Stepe.

While surveying the art (basketball, hockey,  football, soccer and even a little baseball area done up as a pseudo Yankee stadium), I tried a decent Philly cheesesteak served with OK (previously frozen) fries. What I didn’t care for were oily, heavy fried mac & cheese wedges.

The place is equipped with several flat screen TVs (for watching “the game”), making it an ideal spot to take sports-minded kids for an inexpensive bite.

Wingman is at 377 Independence Plaza, Selden, 877-429-4646, wingmanwings.com
