NYC: Liu and de Blasio
New York City is likely to have its first citywide Asian-American elected official as John Liu, despite some false claims in his ads, decisively beat fellow Councilman David Yassky in a runoff for the key position of comptroller. Bill de Blasio, another councilmember, defeated Mark Green for public advocate, a position Green held for eight years ending in 2001.
