A day after arriving back from a wonderful three weeks on the Emerald isle, I was on the green grass of that ballyard in the Bronx on Thursday where the official announcement of the two outdoor games (Rangers-Devils on Jan. 26 at 12:30 and Rangers-Islanders on Jan. 29 at 7:30) was delivered. Wish I could tell you more about public ticket availability but it's not all nailed down yet, the NHL says. Both will be Rangers road games, though we're told that there will be a window for all Rangers season-ticket holders to purchase tickets to both games.
Had an opportunity to catch up with Dan Girardi, whose wife is expecting their second child in a few weeks, and a healthy-looking Ryan Callahan, as well as assistant GM Jeff Gorton, subbing for GM Glen Sather, who is vacationing in California.
Quotes from each of them coming on the next entry. Will tell you here that Girardi spoke with Marc Staal a few days ago and acknowledged that it was a good sign that his fellow d-man was invited to Team Canada's Olympic orientation camp.
"He says he’s feeling great, the eye’s doing well....we’re excited for him," Girardi said.
