Nabokov in goal vs. Leafs
After sitting out Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over the Canadiens, Evgeni Nabokov gets the call tonight against the Leafs in Toronto.
Jay Pandolfo will be a healthy scratch up front for a second straight game. Steve Staios, who is eight games away from playing 1,000 for his career, appears ready to return after missing two games with a lower-body injury. Judging from the optional morning skate, Dylan Reese appears to be the odd man out on D tonight.
The Leafs did not skate after Monday's 8-0 embarrassment in Boston, so they haven't announced a goaltender for tonight.
When the Isles play in Toronto, John Tavares is the usual focus of attention, being that he's from barely half an hour outside the city. But rookie Casey Cizikas is also a Toronto native, so the rookie is pretty pumped that his 11th NHL game is in his hometown.
"When I got called up, I was hoping I might make it long enough to play this one, but I wasn't sure, obviously," Cizikas said. "Now that it's here, it's just amazing. There's gonna be some serious nerves at the start tonight."
He's got roughly 25 guests on hand: Friends, former teammates, parents, siblings and his grandmother coming to the Air Canda Centre tonight. Bridgeport does not play the Toronto Marlies during the AHL regular season, so this was Cizikas' only shot to play in his hometown.
