Yankees are three champagne sprayings from winning it all

My Tuesday column calling for an end to champagne celebrations in baseball caused an extremely minor sensation in the blogosphere, which inspired me to do further research.
As far as I can tell, the notion of spraying champagne to celebrate a sports victory began with Dan Gurney after the 1967 24 Hours of Le Mans.
