The body found on the shore of the Hudson River on Monday has been tentatively identified as that of a missing 31-year-old Poughkeepsie man.

The State Police in Wappinger believe the man who was found near the Hudson River in Fishkill is Benjamin J. Parsons, who had been reported missing from the Beacon Community Residence, a mental health facility, on Oct. 29, according to a State Police news release Wednesday.

Staff members of the Beacon Community Residence contacted the State Police after reading about the discovery of the remains and believed Parsons matched the description, the release said.

Investigator Matthew Manza was in contact with Parsons' family members, who also recognized some of the physical characteristics and confirmed his identity. The investigation into Parsons' death continues.
