CROTON - The Saunders High School community is mourning the loss today of a longtime teacher and Boy Scout leader.

Hermann Jaensch, from Croton, died during a Boy Scout hiking trip.

The 54-year-old died of what his family suspects was a heart attack while leading a trip through the New Mexico mountains.

His 14-year-old son said his father died doing what he loved and with enough time for a final goodbye.
