Brewster man drove drugged with heroin, cops say

A 62-year-old Brewster man pulled over on suspicion of drugged driving on Interstate 684 Monday was found with heroin and will face drug charges, State Police said Tuesday evening.
Troopers from the Somers barracks stopped a vehicle driven by Stephen F. Webber about 12:45 p.m. Monday on I-684 in the town of Bedford after he drove on to the shoulder of the highway, State Police said in a news release. An investigation revealed Webber was driving under the influence of drugs and had eight small wax packets of heroin with him, police said.
Webber was charged with seventh-degree drug possession, a misdemeanor, and driving while ability impaired by drugs. He was arraigned Monday in Somers Town Court before Justice Denis Timone and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Bedford Court on Thursday at 8 p.m.
Efforts to reach Webber Wednesday were unsuccessful and no information on his legal representation was immediately available.
