Sections of the Bronx River Parkway will be closed next week as part of the Crane Road Bridge replacement project.
The parkway's northbound lanes will be closed between Harney Road (Exit 10) and Crane Road (Exit 12) starting on Tuesday, April 23, to Friday, April 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., according to a county news release Friday.
The closure is necessary to conduct subsurface investigations for the west abutment of the new bridge as part of the bridge project, the release said.
A detour will be posted for traffic heading to the northbound parkway using eastbound Harney Road to northbound Scarsdale Avenue to northbound East Parkway and then back onto the northbound parkway at Crane Road. Officers from Eastchester and Scarsdale police departments will be directing traffic at critical intersections along the detour route, the release said. Variable message signs will also be used to alert motorists.
Delays are expected and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.
The bridge project began last summer and will take three years to complete.
