The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the New York City District Council of Carpenters will begin taking applications Wednesday, July 8 for 55 apprenticeships, officials said.

The union is looking for 25 pile-driver and dock-builder apprentices, 20 linoleum, resilient tile and carpet layer apprentices, and 10 cabinetmaker apprentices.

Applications must be obtained in person at the Carpenters Labor Technical College, 395 Hudson St., Manhattan, from 7 to 7:30 a.m. on the second Wednesday of every month, except in December and January. The recruitment period ends June 8, 2016.

Applicants must present a government-issued picture ID to receive a form. The forms must be sent to Apprentice Applications, 385 Hudson St., 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10014 and postmarked no later than five business days after the form was given to the applicant.

Applicants must be age 17 or older, provide proof of age, citizenship, legal right to work in the United States and a Social Security card, have completed high school or GED courses. Applicants also must pass a physical exam and drug test and have reliable transportation.
