Seasonal exercise tips
Here's seasonal advice from some Spring Chickens:
Set a goal: "If I set a goal to do a tri or a road race, I really work at it. If I don't sign up for anything, I'm just going through the motions."
-- Hank Williford, 61, exercise scientist and endurance athlete
Find joy in it: "I think that's why I've been able to stay in the sport. I always find a joy ... a new trail to run or ride on, new places to go."
-- Nancy Lipira, 52, Ironman triathlete
Get out with a friend: "If you can, find somebody else to do it with. That helps a lot."
-- Linda Ottaviano, 52, runner
Stop reading and get started: "Gather together your wits and will and return to the gym immediately. The first step is the hardest. Ten minutes on the stationary bike or treadmill, two or three friendly sets of your four favorite exercises, a pat on the back and home on Cloud Nine. Life is good, action is imperative ... and delicious."
-- Dave Draper, 66, bodybuilder-writer
