Milan-based eyewear giant Luxottica Group, whose North American wholesale division is based in Port Washington, has been making headlines lately.

It boasted its strongest quarter in history  with record sales.

The Lifehacker blog calls it  “one of the biggest consumer companies that consumers have never heard of” in a posting about a Wall Street Journal take on brand-name sunglasses.

And the New York Times took a look at its new concept store.
