New to Glen Cove is Manka Peruvian Kitchen, situated in the strip mall storefront space that last housed Rosticini Italian Grill. Look for it behind Wendy's.
Chef-owner Boris Torres, who came to the U.S. from Peru as a child, grew up in the restaurant business. His family still owns El Anzuelo Fino, a Peruvian restaurant with branches in both Jackson Heights and Woodhaven. But instead of going...Read more »
The subject of the latest email blast from West East All Natural Bar & Bistro is emphatically in caps: NO MORE SODA. This from executive chef Jay Jadeja, who calls soda “a predominant contributor to the obesity and health crisis in our country.”

OK, here we go again. Another Italian restaurant rant.
Last night, a colleague and I had a terrific meal at Luigi Q in Hicksville. Del Lima currently is the consulting chef and also is...Read more »

More than a year-and-a-half in the making, Cinque Terre has opened on Jericho Turnpike in the sprawling space that Panama Hatties put on the map in 1983. (Panama Hatties went through a number of chefs and incarnations before giving way in 2011 to the short-lived Amicale.)
Cinque Terre is owned by Anthony and Pam Page, who also own Verona Ristorante in Farmingdale. The new venue is much bigger,...Read more »
New name. New chef. New style.
Welcome to H2O Seafood & Sushi, the fish house remade. This had been H2O Seafood Grill. Under chef Wayne Cafariella, it's a tasty combination of traditional fare, updates, and a renewed emphasis on the uncooked.
Very good choices include fried oysters with sauce remoulade; the generous lobster bake, with clams, chorizo sausage, corn on the cob and fingerling...Read more »
