Two Long Island lending institutions have opened new branches -- Flushing Bank in Uniondale and Teachers Federal Credit Union in North Massapequa.

The new Flushing branch at 625 RXR Plaza Atrium is the bank's 18th. It opened for business last Monday and was to be formally opened with a ceremony this morning.

Flushing also has relocated its headquarters into the RXR Plaza and, by the end of this month, will have relocated all of its back office operations into RXR from various locations in New York City, mostly Queens. In all it is occupying 92,000 square feet in the Plaza, about 10 percent of the total space in the complex.

About 160 workers formerly in New York City are joining the 85 workers from the former Lake Success headquarters at RXR.

The new Teachers location at 4250 Jerusalem Ave. is the credit union's 27th branch and its second in Nassau County. It opened for business April 3. Robert G. Allen, president and chief executive of TFCU, said in a statement, "We felt it was time to have a greater presence in Nassau County and North Massapequa was a logical choice."
