Bloomingdale's outlet store set to open Sept. 6
Bloomingdale’s, The Outlet Store, will make its Long Island debut on Sept. 6, opening its doors in the new Gallery at Westbury Plaza.
The upscale department store chain, owned by Macy’s Inc., will set up shop among the plaza’s eclectic roster of retailers, such as Trader Joe’s, The Container Store and Shake Shack -- many of them known for having a devoted following. And it will join other upscale outlet stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th and Nordstrom Rack.
Local officials hope the new shopping center, located in Garden City, will usher in more retail development, especially with the expansion and renovation planned for the nearby Roosevelt Field mall.
The 25,000-square-foot retail space will feature upscale brands of women’s, men’s and children’s apparel, shoes and accessories. The selection will include merchandise manufactured for the outlet and items from Bloomingdale’s full-line stores. The store will be the chain’s 11th outlet location.
Company officials have said that the Bloomingdale’s brand already has a built-in customer base between its two full-price locations in the Roosevelt Field mall in Garden City and the Shops at Walt Whitman in Huntington Station. The retailer aims to gain new Bloomingdale's shoppers through its outlet store, officials have said.
For its grand opening celebration, Bloomingdale's outlet store is offering shoppers $25 off any purchase of $50 or more when they share their email address. From Sept. 6 through 9, shoppers will also have the chance each day to win a $500 spree at the store.
