Funding available for local nutrition-focused nonprofits
A total of $30,000 in funding is available for six tri-state area nonprofits through a program run by the McDonald's Nutrition Network and Dasani.
Nonprofits may apply by May 15 to receive $5,000 in funding for a proposed nutrition education program in their community. Those interested in applying can visit www.McDNYMetroNutritionNetwork.com.
Candidates will be evaluated based on the potential impact of the proposed program, officials said.
This is the second year McDonald's has run the program. Last year, local nonprofit Island Harvest received a portion of the funds.
