Programs at Hofstra University and Suffolk County Community College will share nearly $148,500 to help aspiring small business owners, officials said Monday.
Each school's Entrepreneurial Assistance Program will receive a grant of $74,207 from Empire State Development, New York's primary business-aid agency.
The funds will pay for counselors and others who aid people interested in starting a small business.
Hofstra was awarded its first state grant in 1990 and SCCC in 1994. To date, Hofstra has received $474,593 for its entrepreneurs' program and SCCC, $555,093, records show.
