Netsmart acquires NYC software firm
Netsmart Technologies Inc., a software maker with about 150 employees in Great River, has acquired a Manhattan company to broaden its offering of programs to health care firms.
The Overland Park, Kan., company declined the say how much it paid for Defran Systems, which employs about 70 people and produces case, clinical and financial management software.
The move will enable Netsmart to offer Defran's programs through its cloud computing platform, making them more affordable for smaller health and human-service providers, the company said.
“The addition of the Defran solutions to our portfolio allows us to offer a solution to the smaller providers at a price point they can afford,” Netsmart chief executive Michael Valentine said in a statement announcing the acquisition, which closed Thursday.
Netsmart employs about 650 people companywide. It also has offices in Dublin, Ohio.
