Ronkonkoma engineering firm nabs new contract

Intelligent Product Solutions, a Ronkonkoma-based engineering and product design firm, has been contracted by a California company to develop its next generation automobile diagnostics product.

As part of the partnership, a team of electrical, mechanical and software engineers from IPS will develop the new diagnostics product, which is used to test personal and commercial vehicles, for Power Probe, the Brea, Calif., company, said Derek Peterson, IPS' vice president for software development.

Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.

The contracted project is expected to last until mid-October, after which IPS hopes to continue working with Power Probe on future products, Peterson said.

IPS, which was founded in 2008, is a full-service engineering firm headquartered in Ronkonkoma, with offices in New Jersey and South Carolina. The company has around 120 employees -- half of which are based on Long Island. Most of the engineering team for the Power Probe project will work out of the Ronkonkoma office, Peterson said.
