Roosevelt Field fix-up brings 2,800 jobs, Neiman Marcus
Neiman Marcus will make its Long Island debut at the Roosevelt Field mall in 2015, as part of a major renovation that will bring about 2,800 construction jobs in addition to additional retail positions, said the mall's owner, Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group.
Neiman Marcus will open in a new 100,000-square-foot building at the Garden City mall.
Renovation of the mall is expected to begin next year.
“We are very excited to add the premier luxury department store Neiman Marcus to Roosevelt Field, which is already one of the most successful retail shopping destinations in the country,“ David Simon, chairman and chief executive of the Simon Property Group, said in a Thursday news release.
“Simon will be an impressive complement to our existing roster of more than 270 retailers and will further enhance our ability to provide shoppers with the highest quality and selection of goods that they have come to expect at Roosevelt Field.“
The renovation and expansion, which includes a new food pavilion to replace the food court and additional full-service restaurants, will be privately funded, the company said.
