Third union exec appointed to Nassau IDA board

Union leader Robert English has been appointed to the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency’s board of directors.

English is a business agent for Local 66 of the General Building Laborers' Union. His appointment brings the IDA board’s membership to six; a maximum of seven members is permitted.

English is the third union executive on the board. The others are Christopher Fusco of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and John T. Ahern of the International Union of Operating Engineers.

English was nominated for the unpaid IDA post by Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano and confirmed by the County Legislature.

Melville-based Local 66 also has a representative on the board of the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency: Peter Zarcone Jr. The local has more than 1,000 members on Long Island.
