Insurance help for LI's Sandy victims

The state's Department of Financial Services is offering homeowners, renters and business owners assistance with insurance issues related to damage caused by superstorm Sandy.

The agency's Mobile Command Center will be stationed at various Long Island locations next week. Representatives will be on hand to help residents contact their insurers and answer questions about their insurance coverage, the department said.

Residents who are unable to visit the agency's Mobile Command Center can call its storm hotline at 800-339-1759; it is staffed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.

The Mobile Command Center will visit Long Island on the following days and locations:

Tuesday - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on a lot on the corner of Bennett Place and Montauk Highway at the end of Route 110, Amityville.

Thursday - 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Wantagh firehouse, 2529 Neptune Ave., Seaford.

Friday - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Newbridge Road Park, 2600 Newbridge Rd., Bellmore.
