BAE Systems Inc.'s Greenlawn unit has won a $6.7 million Department of Defense contract for 16 digital interrogators and 45 friend-or-foe kits.
Two of the interrogators would go to the government of Japan and 14 to the U.S. Navy. Thirty-three of the friend-or-foe kits are destined for the U.S. Navy and 12 for Japan. Work on the equipment is scheduled to be completed by December 2015.

Chembio Diagnostics Inc. plans this summer to begin selling its rapid tests for HIV directly to clinics and others in the United States.

With the April 15 income-tax filing deadline approaching, the state Taxation and Finance Department announced Wednesday expanded hours for its telephone hotline to answer tax filers’ questions.
The call center will now be open from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, an increase of 2½ hours. The center also will operate on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through April 15.

Consumer confidence in the metropolitan area slipped last month because of severe winter weather and rising gasoline prices.
