William Mannix, longtime executive director of the Islip Town Industrial Development Agency, has been elected chairman of the New York State Economic Development Council.
The council is a trade association representing IDAs and local development corporations across the state. It has 900 members and its activities include conferences, newsletters and lobbying state government.
Mannix will serve for two years. He has worked at the Islip IDA since 1993, handling more than 300 building projects that have created and retained more than 39,000 jobs.
