HARTFORD - A legislative task force created in the wake of the Sandy Hook mass shooting held its first of four meetings yesterday on gun violence and school safety.

Lawmakers heard testimony on school security concerns and ideas for improving safety. The task force's subcommittee on gun violence prevention will hold a public hearing on Monday, and the subcommittee on mental health will hold a public hearing Tuesday.

The full task force will hold a public hearing Wednesday night at Newtown High School.
