A Long Island SCORE chapter has helped to create 376 new businesses and 356 new jobs for existing businesses in the area last year, according to a research study conducted by audit and consulting services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

Moreover, 93 percent of the LI SCORE chapter's in-business clients showed increased revenue in 2014. SCORE, a national nonprofit small business association, was previously known as the Service Corps of Retired Executives.

"The impact that SCORE has had on Long Island has been tremendous," Barry Klein, chairman for SCORE Long Island, said in a statement. "Small business success affects the economy of our whole region. This survey demonstrates the commitment our volunteers have to building the right foundation for a successful business."
