The U.S. Small Business Administration next month will honor two small business owners and one advocate for small businesses on Long Island.
Two winners from Long Island will receive national recognition in Washington on May 2.
SBA’s New York District Office will recognize the two national winners and another local winner from Long Island, along with nine others on May 3. The awards ceremonies are part of SBA’s celebration of National Small Business Week from May 1 to May 7.
Among the 12 winners from New York are: Jill Clough-Johnson, small business liaison officer for Brookhaven Science Associates, LLC/Brookhaven National Laboratory, based in Upton, for the National 2016 Dwight D. Eisenhower Award; F. Xavier Fleming of Sound Roof Systems Ltd., based in Williston Park, for National 2016 Subcontractor of the Year; and James Wilson Wood, Independent Media Sales & Services Inc., doing business as Minority Commerce Weekly based in Shoreham, for NY District Office Minority Small Business Champion of the Year.
“The nominations for this year’s competition prove, once again, the level of professionalism and success is a trademark of our New York District small business community,” New York District Director Beth Goldberg said in a statement. “Not only should the winners be congratulated but every business nominated and considered should be recognized for their accomplishments. Selecting this year’s winners was no easy task.”
The NY District Office awards ceremony will be held May 3 from 10 a.m. to noon. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at 26 Federal Plaza, Conference Center Sixth Floor, Room A/B. The event, featuring a complimentary continental breakfast, is open to the public. To RSVP, email email@example.com.
