Gail C. Power of Oceanside has joined Broadway Medical in Lynbrook as a family nurse practitioner. She had a similar job at RJS Family Practice in East Rockaway.

Dr. Ajay Misra of Huntington, attending neurologist at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, has been promoted to chairman of the hospital’s Department of Neurosciences. In the past he taught at the University of Southern California and was chief of neurology and co-director of the neuromuscular lab at the Veterans Affairs outpatient clinic in Los Angeles.

David Shanahan of Holbrook has been hired as the director of physical education, health and athletics in the Elwood Union Free School District. He taught health at John Glenn High School in Elwood.

Erwin M. Cabrera of Massapequa has been hired as associate project director of the First in the World mentorship program at Farmingdale State College. He was student director/recruiter for the Sackler Institute Diversity and Outreach Initiative at NYU School of Medicine in Manhattan.

Kevin Simmons of St. James has been appointed principal of Smithtown High School East. He was principal of Nesaquake Middle School in St. James in the Smithtown Central School District.

Daniel McCabe of Huntington has been appointed principal of Nesaquake Middle School in St. James, in the Smithtown Central School District. He was assistant principal of Accompsett Middle School in Smithtown.
