A new rental complex in Coram will hold a lottery next week for affordably priced apartments.
The drawing will take place March 19 for the first 98 apartments at Wincoram Commons, which are expected to open by June. The deadline to apply for the lottery is March 18.
The complex is expected to be complete by September, with 176 apartments and 13,300 square feet of commercial space. It is under construction on nearly 18 acres at Route 112 and Middle Country Road, where a dilapidated movie theater once stood.
The rents will range from $929 to $1,788 per month for energy-efficient apartments with one, two or three bedrooms. The maximum income for a single resident ranges from $44,160 to $66,240. For a household of six, the maximum income ranges from $73,200 to $109,800.
The complex is being developed by Conifer Realty, a Rochester-based builder, and the Centereach-based nonprofit Community Development Corp. of Long Island. It was endorsed by the Long Island Regional Economic Development Council, and it has received state and county funding.
A temporary leasing office is at 3680 Rte. 112, Suites 1 and 2 in Coram.
