New high-end condos on the market in Flushing
Few of Flushing's finer flourishes remain from 1917, when humorist Ellis Parker Butler wrote from his home there: "I am in a placid, beautiful country town."
But other charms endure from Butler's day: "Eighteen minutes in the cleanest and most comfortable of steel cars, on a swift electric train, puts me in the very heart of Manhattan," he wrote in his essay "Why I Live in Flushing."
